Guidelines for Financial Assistance

Financial assistance provided by The National Children’s Cancer Society (N.C.C.S.) is made possible because of generous donors.  These funds are made available for families with the greatest need.

Types of Assistance Available

    --Meals during treatment.
    --Transportation to and from treatment.
    --Long-distance telephone cards.
    --Lodging during treatment.
    --Health-insurance premiums.
    --Medical expenses not covered by insurance

Criteria to Qualify for Assistance

The following guidelines must be met to qualify for financial assistance:

    --Child diagnosed with cancer on or before his or her 18th birthday.
    --Child is a U.S. citizen or has maintained uninterrupted residency in the U.S. (green card 
       status) for at least 12 months, without prior history of the current illness.
    --A family with liquid assets in excess of $5,000 may be asked to partially or completely
      “spend down” these assets prior to approval for receiving financial assistance.
